August/September 2016

Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members:

Welcome to the 2016/2017 school year! Our theme in the Alhambra School District is “Everyone Matters” and at Montebello we take pride in providing a high quality education to all of our students. Our school theme this year is “Every Minute Matters” and we are committed to providing rigorous, bell-to-bell instruction to maximize your child’s learning opportunities. We know that with parent support, we can soar to new heights and best prepare every child to achieve their academic and personal goals!

We have much to celebrate as we start this new year. In April, our MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement) Team competed in the state competition and won first place overall! In addition, we were awarded first place in the Change Makers category for our Montebello Bully Stoppers Club and first place for the Prosthetic Arm Challenge and represented Arizona at the National Competition in Ogden, Utah. We also achieved greatness with our extra curricular sports program. Our boys and girls volleyball teams took first place in district competitions and our boys team were division champs! In addition, we had our first Robotics Club and Entrepreneurs Club this year. We offer numerous sports and after school club opportunities for our students to provide a well rounded education focused on the whole child. We are so proud of our Grizzlies!

Montebello school enjoys a history of providing students with a rich academic learning experience. With a dedicated teaching staff, rigorous academic expectations, and high quality programs, services, and supports, I am confident that Montebello School provides students with the knowledge and skills to be college and career ready. With parent and community support, we will ensure the students of Montebello School will be successful, productive members of society. The teachers and I are not only committed to our students’ academic success, but will also provide students with opportunities to socialize appropriately. We believe in teaching the whole child to best prepare them for a prosperous future. I look forward to building relationships with our parents and community members. Working together, we will accomplish great things for our students, school and community. I encourage you to be a part of our school family through the numerous events we will host throughout the year. Our list of events can be found in our school newsletter and on our website.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. Working together, we can make our school an even better place for students to grow and learn.
